Unexpected shut down on laptop

Post by beun on Mon Jun 29, 2015 7:01 am

Hi Dejan,

A few months ago I installed the february version on the laptop of my gf. Since then she experienced an unexpected shut down several times. Today, it happened 2 times in a couple of ours. What can I do to solve this problem?

PEACE!

what make/model is the laptop?
I have had a similar issue with a laptop of mine, and was caused by a hardware fault but I managed to find a workaround.

Hello and welcome to the forums! typically this is caused by CPU overheating problems. One cause may be putting it on your bed or even your lap sometimes thus clogging the vents. Another cause may be bad thermal paste between the heat sink and the fan or simply a loose heat sink. Hopefully that's not the issue because laptops are generally hard to fix such issues.

The only good thing about Windows is that it never gives you any terminal illnesses.
Needless to say, Terminal illnesses are the only problem with Linux.
