I've seen this occur on other distros too.
The shaded line appears just about the dock (if at bottom).
Do use external monitor as primary but switching back to 60hz didn't do anything for it.

maybe you'll have to ask some Docky/Cairo-dock professionals. They would probably know better than us Sad (am very sorry)

1. Go to the Settings Manager and open Window Manager Tweaks.
2. Click the Compositor tab.
3. Remove the checkmark from Show shadows under dock windows.

Glad it worked for you danielson. I only knew about it, because I remembered seeing it somewhere before. I'm not an expert at Linux...more like a hack. Very Happy

Well, screen tearing is basically where you'll be watching a video on your computer, and part of a frame is displaced so that things aren't aligned correctly. Imagine a picture of a tree...the top 1/3 of the tree and the bottom 1/3 of the tree are in alignment. However, the middle 1/3 is slightly offset to one side.

So, danielson's problem wasn't screen tearing. I found that screen tearing post you're talking about, and the poster is correct; in that, Compton does help a lot with screen tearing. I've never had a problem with screen tearing myself...probably because I don't watch many videos or movies on my computers...but I like to use Compton for it's shadows and fading effects. I made a post on here somewhere a while back about how to install Compton...but I don't remember where it is.
