You'll need to create a .desktop file in ~/.config/autostart

Open Gedit and use this template, replacing "lxpanel" with the command to start the application you would like to add to startup:

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Exec=/usr/bin/lxpanel
Hidden=false
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true
Name[en_US]=lxpanel
Name=lxpanel
Comment[en_US]=lxpanel
Comment=lxpanel

Save that file in ~/.config/autostart

NOTE: THE FILE MUST END WITH .DESKTOP, NOT .TXT

be sure not to accidentally name it example.desktop.txt

The only good thing about Windows is that it never gives you any terminal illnesses.
Needless to say, Terminal illnesses are the only problem with Linux.
